Not even been here for 1 season and he gets cunted, this is why I hate being associated with some so called West Ham fans, let the boy settle for fucks sake and get used to the pace and physicality of the Prem, Maiga could also have done ok if had not been played as a loan striker by a totally tactical inept manager in BFS, am afraid gents the buck stops at that man as he cannot pick players to play in correct positions end of story

Funnily enough I was talking on a similar line the other day, always thought Maiga should have been given a chance with our new system. At the very least, it can only be better than him playing on his own. I'd like to see him get given a chance next season alongside Sakho, hopefully their style of play (as well as links in French football) would help them play together.

We were all gushing at how great the Sakho/Valencia partnership was when we were brushing teams aside and in the top four.
Suddenly it turns out that the truly dog shit Maiga is better than Valencia because the form has dipped slightly?
That's why, in the main, this site is total bollocks.

He never even looked fucking bothered. Out of his depth and couldn't be arsed to even make up for it by putting in effort. A fcuking disaster of a player.

Maiga was poor in a lot of matches. Generally, I tohught he got a bad rep of our fans tohugh as he wasn't awful like some made out but to suggest he is better than Valencia is an outrageous comment IMO.

Brave post. Or, in fact, foolish.
I like the sentiment but there is one problem. Maiga is shit and lazy. You can dress it up as much as you like with talk about formations not suiting him or not having the right players around him but the bottom line is he is shit.
Never a top level striker. Never.

Sorry, but Maiga was indeed terrible (nice header against spurs though) support striker or not.
Valencia clearly offers more. I didn't see West Brom, but I saw Man Utd and would say he was one of our better players.

The only glimpses of Valencia we see is when players like Sakho, Downing, Amalfitano play around him. Every time Nolan Cole or Carroll play around him he's pretty fucking gash.
Might be a decent player under a different manager, who prefers football on the deck, but under Fat Sam I think he won't play to his strengths. In fact I'm not even sure why we signed him in the first place. We could have bought another target man for £10 million plus and saved the hassle.
It seems pointless signing players like him under Allardyce.

I think Samb0 mostly does a good job, but there's no doubt that he didn't treat Maiga properly. He should never have been played up front by himself, but it was all a result of the striker debacle last season. Again, Sam's fault.
Valencia is possibly the most over-rated striker in WHO history, usually by people on who've jumped on the Carroll-bashing bandwagon.
Still, he might be one of those players that takes a while to get used to the UK and the English game.

There's definitely a top player ready to come out, his decision making does let him down but I've got a feeling it will all come together next season when he's fully settled and used to the league.
I'd be even more confident with a new manager at the helm.

Re: Maiga > Valencia

Good brave thread. Maiga will be presumably coming back in the Summer and the challenge is to find some way of making positive use of the player. He's playing in Ligue 1 so is clearly not useless. I totally agree that in essence Maiga has the same issue as Valencia or Sakho - they cannot play the lone striker role that Carroll or Cole play. It's always going to hold them back. I think it would still be an issue even if Allardyce goes.
Yes, I think the club should move Valencia on in the Summer - he has talent, but it's been tough to find a way to exploit it. I think he ends up a full-time winger, not a striker at all. I do think he's been better in the wide role (Sakho has been terrible there) and we do lack wide options if Jarvis and Amalfitano leave (other than Downing of course).
